comparitive essay
Louis Lowry’s dystopian novel, “The Giver” and the song “Praying” by Kesha both have similarities and differences in conflicts both internal and external that are quite significant throughout each story line.
Both of them have similarities in pain. For example in the giver “Jonas” is overwhelmed with the pain of figuring out the true dark secrets of his society. In praying she is dealing with the pain of a relationship. In the giver Jonas becomes stronger from his conflict. In praying she becomes stronger from the broken relationship she came out of.
These stories have differences in the circumstances. For example in the giver Jonas has to deal with the whole community and it’s over a life style. In praying she has to deal with an abusive and broken relationship with one other person. In the giver Jonas decides to run away from his entire futuristic society while in the song praying she runs away from her other and comes back to fight versus Jonas running away and never coming back
In conclusion from reading both of these it is obvious to see that both have significant similarities and differences including internal and external conflicts with self and others over pain and heartbreak.
